I vote for European Starlings. They make all sorts of odd noises, whistles,
croaks and rattles. My experience is that trying to ID birds that others
have seen, especially from non-birders, by description of appearance and
call is very difficult. It makes me realize how much our perception of the
world is molded by our knowledge.
