I stopped by Kevin's Purple Martin nest boxes in Ballard about 1:30PM
today. I didn't see any Martins, but the pilings were quite busy.
24 Double-crested Cormorants
21 small terns, probably common, perched on the horizontal boards on the
pilings to the south. More over the water including five or so Caspian
Terns.
One Belted Kingfisher perched on a nest box
One Glaucous-winged gull perched on a nest box.
Two smaller gulls, Ring-billed or Mew on pilings near the nest boxes
Many GW Gulls and Crows in the area as well as Canada Geese and Mallards
swimming in the shallows.

Most of the gulls and terns were facing away from me, so it was hard to
tell what they were exactly without a cold swim. I'm sure from reading
Kevin Li's posts that the Martins were cavorting around the area
somewhere, but not near the nest at midday.
