There was a spectacular fall of sparrows and warblers this
morning which neatly correlates to the night migration reported
last night. Coxcomb Hill (home of the Astor Column) was above
the fog once again with east winds at 0-5. The best bird
of the morning was a CALLIOPE HUMMINGBIRD that stopped long
enough to give a TOWNSEND'S WARBLER what for. A CASSIN'S VIREO
was also seen along with newly arrived GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROWS.

Mike Patterson The common view of science is that it is a sort of machine
Astoria, OR for increasing the race's store of dependable facts.
mpatters at oregonvos.net It is that only in part; in even larger part
it is a machine for upsetting undependable facts.
