Hello tweeters,
This trip was designed to find new records of Dragonflies in Lewis Co.But
after it;s getting eary dark now and cold, i decited to try Owling.
I stayed in this nice Campsite on White Pass on Leach Lake close to the Ski
area. I knew Patrick had the Boreal Owls there last year climbing the steep
hill close to the chair lift. I kind of looked the area over in the day
time. And i discovert a pad which runs from part of operating the lift.
This pad looked as if it ended up in yakima Co, but it turns right after
you get to the top. I started early at 9.15 PM.The moon was almost full and
there was no wind, so everything was in my favour. The only think is hard
to get to the top.The Moon got covert for some reason behind the tall
trees on top of the hill. You could see the moon from the street but the
farther you walked up it was pitch dark. I did finaly make it to the top
using my flashlight to know where i was going. I stayed almost thirty
minutes before i heared a calling. I barly could hear them and there din't
seem to get closer. The calls came from the right side the right side of the
hill what would be in Lewis Co.I did not go any further, the road was sandy
and rocky and hard to walk in the dark. I was happy i heard them calling. I
will report more on my new find of a Dragonflie sightings and my dilemma
going in to the wilderness.
