Warm, windless weather, and lack of storms north to push the birds south,
may contributed to a slow day of birding by Klickitat County standards.
Thirty participants, including some of the state of Washington's best
birders, observed at least 131 species. These results are preliminary as we
have yet to receive the data for 3 of the 10 sectors.

Included in the highlights

Red-eyed Vireo 1
Sandhill Crane 23 at Conboy
Acorn Woodpeckers 4
Lewis Woodpeckers over 140
Golden Eagles 7
Merlin 1
Peregrine Falcon 1
Red-necked Grebe 1
Horned Grebe 1
Eared Grebe 1

Complete results will hopefully be posted by the end of October at

Consider participating in our Spring 2000 count.

In the meantime, happy birding
