Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This
recording was made Thursday September 23. If you have anything to add

On September 17 a CALIFORNIA THRASHER was found at a mobile home park in
Medford. It was observed several times during the day, but was gone the
next day.

A cruise trip traveling off Oregon September 19 encountered a MURPHY'S
PETREL 65 miles off Clatsop Beach and a LAYSAN ALBATROSS 65 miles off
Sand Lake. Also seen were 85 SABINE'S GULLS, 18 ARCTIC TERNS, 38
LONG-TAILED JAEGERS, 9 PARASITICS, 23 LEACH'S and 3 FORK-TAILED
STORM-PETRELS.

A LITTLE GULL was at Summer Lake WA September 18. A GYRFALCON was
observed along Livermore Road, north of Baskett Slough NWR September 19.
A male RUFF was at Henderson Marsh on the North Spit of Coos Bay
September 21.

Heavy migrations were reported during the week with GOLDEN-CROWNED
SPARROWS, and PIPITS regularly reported. RED-HOULDERED HAWKS were
reported this week from Creswell and near Silverton.

Among the swarms of shorebirds on the North Spit of Coos Bay during the
week were 8 AMERICAN and 7 PACIFIC GOLDEN-PLOVERS. On September 17 an
early DUNLIN was there. A PALM WARBLER was at Pigeon Point on Coos Bay
September 19. Two RED KNOTS and 13 MARBLED GODWITS were at Bandon that
day. An ARCTIC TERN was at yaquina Bay September 17.

The September 18 offshore boat trip out of Depoe Bay found most of the
expected species including 51 BLACK-FOOTED ALBATROSS, 291 FULMARS, and 5
POMARINE JEAGERS.

The STILT SANDPIPER continues to be seen at Fenk Road west of Tillamook.
On September 18, 17 MARBLED GODWITS were on the Bayocean Shorebird Flats.
A RED KNOT was there September 20, and on September 21 a PALM WARBLER was
seen there.

Among the many migrants on Coxcomb Hill in Astoria September 19 was a
CALLIOPE HUMMINGBIRD. A GRASSHOPPER SPARROW was in Ankeny NWR September
19. That day a probable CLAY-COLORED SPARROW was on Mt. Pisgah near
Eugene. A SWAMP SPARROW was at the Diamond Lake Sewage Ponds September
16.

On September 18 two SCRUB-JAYS were near Redmond, and 4 were in Sisters
the next day.

Among the many migrants during the week at Malheur NWR Headquarters was a
BLACKPOLL WARBLER September 19, and a possible VIRGINIA'S WARBLER the
next day. A NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH was at Fields September 19.
