Subject: Sparrow movement

Here in Moscow (north-central Idaho) I've noticed a good movement of
sparrows over the past week. At my local sparrow patch I've had Song,
Lincoln's ( up to 4-5), White-crowned, Savannah, and Dark-eyed Junco as
arrivals or in increased numbers. We don't get many Song Sparrows around
here during the breeding season (they mostly breed along mountain
streams/meadows) so they are easy to detect as arrivals. Also I suspect the
winterers may be of a different sub-species (and we may actually have
several but I need to look into this more carefully). We've had a pretty
lousy passerine migration (probably because most birds have been going
right over!) so far this fall so it's nice to have something showing up!

Thanks, Charles.
