Tweets, made a late trip out to Ocean SHores this afternoon, stopping only at
Damon Pt. and Bill's spit. I found a couple of very accomodating golden plovers
at Damon Pt.; they sat while I worked them over for the better part of an hour.
I finally decided to call them Americans, based on even spacing of primaries,
though I only saw three, and projections of first and partial second primary
tips beyond the tail. I would appreciate any comments pro or con regarding this
id.A larger issue I'd appreciate comments on is how many unidentified species
are acceptable in data gathering. Don has recently added a few species to his
database (accipiters, dowitchers and empids) at my suggestion. Golden plovers
are another possibility, as are calidrids, etc. the list could quickly descend
into chaos if every possibility is added, though, so where do you stop?Regards,
