Today I found a juvenile Sharp-tailed Sandpiper just below the railroad
tracks on the eastern side of the Walla Walla River Delta. I made a few
phone calls to Tri-Cities area birders. Mike and Merry Lynn Denny, Ruth
Fischer, Nancy LaFramboise, Dennis Rockwell, and Bob Woodley all had
adequate if brief views of this striking Siberian visitor before it took
off. In flight several of us heard its somewhat mellow, two-part call note,
very different from the harsh call of a Pectoral Sandpiper.

Noted at the delta from 1200-1730 this afternoon (virtually no "land"
birding):
