I spent five and a half hours birding the Steigerwald Lake N.W.R. near
Washougal, in Clark County on Sept. 26. On this monthly census I listed
54 species including the first of the fall RING-NECKED DUCKS and a MEW
GULL.
At home in western Skamania County we had our first VARIED THRUSH of the
fall and have had good movements of TOWNSEND'S and BLACK-THROATED GRAY
WARBLERS with a dozen or more of each species per day with a few ORANGE
-CROWNED and HERMITS on Sept. 25th & 26th. RUBY-CROWNED KINGLET and
WARBLING VIREOS are also in the mixed flocks that came through.
