Subject: Skagit Game Range Report: Bummer

My friend and I birded the outer dike trail adjacent to the boat launch area
on Saturday that runs somewhat parallel to the slough. It was very windy
and the only birds we saw were swallows. Saw a few flocks of ducks
skittering around in the distance as if they were trying to escape the
hunters. But there were hunters everywhere and bullets being fired very
near us, seemingly at close range. I felt extremely uncomfortable and don't
remember the fear of bullets being a problem when birding this area in the
fall and winter in the past, even though hunters were around (mostly on
their boats, more out on the water area). Has anyone else experienced this?
Has there been any reports of birders being shot?
