Folks,
The first BREWER'S Blackbird, a female, appeared at the east bays of the
Burien Park & Ride, yesterday AM, September 28, 1999. This species shares
the handouts, spilled pickings, abandoned munchies, and general
under-your-feet begging privileges with the ubiquitous year-around
resident Rock doves. However, these lovely native blackbirds (especially
the males; don't forget blackbirds and orioles share up-close common
ancestry) do not show up here every winter. Glad to see 'em; they
brighten the wait for the bus many a winter morning.
Cheers,
me2
