Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This
recording was made Thursday September 30. If you have anything to add

The Summer Lake WA LITTLE GULL continues to be seen.

Heavy migrations continue with sparrows, hawks, and VULTURES most
conspicuous. Migrant SANDHILL CRANES and arriving RUBY-CROWNED KINGLETS
were also being reported. Among the continuing shorebird movements were
six AMERICAN and five PACIFIC GOLDEN-PLOVERS on the North Spit of Coos
Bay September 27. Over 4000 SURF SCOTERS were passing Boiler Bay
September 28.

The STILT SANDPIPER was still along Fenk Road, west of Tillamook last
week-end. An AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVER and five DUNLIN were at the South
Jetty of the Columbia River September 22. A LONG-BILLED CURLEW was there
September 27. Individual LAPLAND LONGSPURS were at the jetty during the
week. A PALM WARBLER was there September 22.

The WHITE PELICAN continues to be seen on Sauvie Island. The first flocks
of northern CANADA GEESE arrived during the week, while large numbers of
swallows are still in the area. The Sauvie Island WA is now closed until
next April.

The first returning RING-NECKED DUCKS and a MEW GULL were at Steigerwald
Lake September 27. Three PECTORAL SANDPIPERS and 34 GREAT EGRETS were at
Baskett Slough NWR September 27. At the pond near Brownsville September
23 were two AVOCETS. Two BAIRD'S SANDPIPERS, a REDHEAD, and 2 HORNED
GREBES were at the Philomath Sewage Ponds September 24.

A NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD was on Stukel Mountain, south of Klamath Falls
September 27.

A STILT SANDPIPER was at Benson Pond in Malheur NWR September 25. A PALM
WARBLER was at Benson Pond September 24. Heavy migrations are being
reported from the area, with 2 WHITE-THROATED SPARROWS seen during the
week among the swarms of sparrows.
