Spent Wed (9/29) watching nearly 1000 cranes feeding in harvested corn
fields and alfalfa west of Othello just off D road SE. As always, an
impressive sight. Managed to get some video shots of birds flying,
landing, and feeding.

The early morning highlight was watching ( and filming from long
distance) a coyote trotting through a flock of 100+ cranes as they fed
in an alfalfa field. The cranes kept a close eye on the coyote as he
passed often within 5-6 feet but they did not fly. Once or twice the
coyote appeared to hesitate slightly as if thinking about going for the
nearest bird but each time kept moving.

Also in the area were 100s of yellow-headed blackbirds and many
brewer's
