Amy: Just last night, Kate Stenberg from the King County Wildlife Program was
on the TV news requesting help monitoring great blue heron colonies in King
County. If you have not talked with her, I imagine she will be a great
resource to you, and probably you to her as well. She noted that 40% of the
Puget Sound colonies were abandoned last year, and is looking for volunteers
to study the rookeries and help determine the cause.

You can look up Kate on the internet. Her e-mail address is:
kate.stenberg at metrokc.gov

Best wishes on your research. I look at the Kiwanis Ravine rookery several
times a week, and the abandoned rookery in the West Duwamish greenbelt.
