Yes, come on over. There are a couple of spots to view cranes. One is two
miles west of Othello on SR 26, turn south on Thacker Road and continue
straight as it turns into McKinney Road. Follow it as it turns west, then
south, and cross Bench Road. There should be cranes in the next mile,
especially on the west side in the corn field. Go back to Bench Road and
turn west, and look in the first mile to the south.

Another spot is 13 miles west of Othello on SR 26 (and another spot 15 miles
west). Turn south on Road C SE and park in the parking lot labeled "Corfu".
It is best there in the first few hours of the morning, and the last few
hours of the evening, but there are lots of birds. If you stay past sunset
there should be quite a flock of ducks there as well (probably still around
30,000).

During the day there are roosts along SR 26. The most reliable is at MP 30,
but is difficult to see. Another roost may not be as active, but is more
visible, at the south end of the wetland (~30.5), 3/4 mile west of the
Grant-Adams Co. line. There should be stilts and avocets there as well.

Randy
