Greets --
Yesterday, at the Narbeck Wetland Sanctuary, I saw a pair of swallows
mating on the wing. I didn't know they did that. They flew high in the air,
came together and stayed that way while they plummeted toward the ground.
They were within ten feet of the earth when they broke apart. That was
pretty exciting to watch.
Three common snipe flew in and landed directly across one of the ponds
from where I stood. I also saw my first common yellowthroat of the season
there. I have seen a pair of green-winged teal and a pair of hooded
mergansers hanging out at Narbeck for the past week also.
Yesterday, as I walked in to work from the upper parking lot, I saw what
initially looked like white-crowned sparrows but were much sleeker and
smaller than sparrows. IS THERE ANOTHER BIRD THAT LOOKS LIKE A WHITE-CROWNED
BUT ISN'T? Maybe it isn't going to be so bad working the dayshift for a
while!
