This is the Lower Columbia Basin Audubon Society Bird Alert for March 27,

On March 13, Mary Lilga observed 4 COMMON REDPOLLS in her birdbath in her
North Richland yard.

On March 14, Laurie Ness found about 20 TREE SWALLOWS downstream from the
I-182 bridge over the Yakima River.

On the following day, Nancy LaFramboise reported 3 LONG-BILLED CURLEWS in
the field just south of Battelle Boulevard. While on the Yakima Delta I
(Bob Woodley) found 6 HORNED GREBES, 3 REDHEAD, 1 adult BALD EAGLE, 4
GREATER YELLOWLEGS, 13 LEAST SANDPIPERS, 22 DUNLIN, and 5 LONG-BILLED
DOWITCHERS.

Nine BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERONS were seen on March 16 near the bridge in
Prosser by Jack Dawson who also reported 2 flocks of SNOW GEESE on the
Umatilla National Wildlife Refuge on March 18.

On March 19, I (BW) noted the first AMERICAN AVOCET for the year on the
Yakima Delta as well as 14 TREE SWALLOWS.

Ruth Fischer reported 5 WESTERN GREBES off Columbia Park on March 20 and
the pair OF EURASIAN WIGEON in the park duck pond were still present.

A COMMON REDPOLL at the sunflower seed feeder in her Pasco yard was seen by
Laurie Ness on March 24.

The following day, I (BW) saw 2 GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE and 2 AMERICAN
AVOCETS on the Yakima Delta.

Also on the 25th Ruth Fischer observed 2 BLACK-NECKED STILT and a GREATER
YELLOWLEGS at the pond along Bunn Road just northeast of Prosser and noted
winnowing COMMON SNIPE overhead.

Mary Lilga reported 150 northbound Sandhill Crane passing over Groves Park
on March 22 and received word from Jeanette Daily (?) of a partially albino
AMERICAN ROBIN near Canyon Terrace.

On March 26, Dennis Rockwell found an OSPREY on the nesting platform in one
of the ponds along I-82 between Yakima and Wapato.

Today, Dennis Rockwell reported a CASPIAN TERN over Two Rivers Park. Ruth
Fischer and I (BW) saw perhaps the same tern on the Yakima Delta a little
later plus 1 BLACK-NECKED STILT and 5 AMERICAN AVOCETS. Also CLIFF
SWALLOWS were present near the I-182 bridge.
