I birded the ag lands immediately east of Kittitas for a few hours late
yesterday afternoon, 4/5/00. The most surprising/notable birds were six
Common Snipe. Most of them were close to the road and areas where the
cattails had been burned off. One was actually on the gravel on the road.
Several of them were calling but none were demonstrating their aerial
display. I don't know if it is too early in the season for the display or
if the strong westerly wind was keeping them down.
