Hmm. I've only seen one (what I think was a) rufous female at either of my
feeders so far. She grabbed a drink and took off so quickly that I wasn't
able to get a positive ID. I saw her that one time, and haven't seen
another one since.

I wonder what I might be doing wrong? I have two feeders up (in the same
location as last year), and I tied red ribbons all over the hanging planters
that hang from the front of the house, near the feeders, to attract them.

Maybe I need to get bigger feeders??

Short of putting out cut flowers until the rhodies and azaleas bloom, what
else can I do to attract them? Does anyone have any ideas?

Subject: Hummers and Common Yellowthroats

Hello, Tweeters,

Today I heard the first Common Yellowthroats of the season. I heard at least
four males singing.

Plus........I've never had such a hummingbird year. I cannot believe the
numbers I have coming to my feeders. Tonight I counted at least 15 Rufous
Hummingbirds. Is anyone else experiencing such numbers so early in the year?
My god, my backyard looks like Chicago O'Hare.........
