Subject: New yard bird: how lucky can I be?

Hey Tweeters,

This morning at about 10:00 AM, I was leaning over on the hood of my car
watching my 1 1/2 year old daughter playing in the front seat. As I was
watching her, I see in the reflection of the front windshield a crow
diving on another bird (I also hear said crow). I look up to see a large
accipiter about 30 feet above whose under parts show a fine barring of
pale blue gray. This can only be one species - and adult Northern
Goshawk! From its size, which seemed small for a gos, I am guessing that
it was a male. It flew over the house through the back yard and into a
in the property behind us, where I lost sight of it.

I seem to have good luck with this species when it comes to yard list.
In West Seattle, where I use to live (from 1992-1998), I saw a Goshawk
twice in a large tree across the street from my apartment. One both
occasions it was an immature bird. This is the third Northern Goshawk
that I have seen in Thurston County. All three have been in early April.
