I also had a desire to see these birds. I had read about them visiting a
small community in the mountains called Pine Mountain Club. In February I
wandered up there and after about a half hour of scanning the sky was
successful in seeing a soaring condor. I talked to a ten year old boy waiting
at a pulloff for a friend coming on school bus and he said one had landed on
their deck. "Boy , are they
BIG".
Pine Mountain Club is not labeled on Delorme but is in B4 on p. 77 (Southern
Ca).
Left I5 at Lebec, went through Frazier Park and out Cuddy Valley rd and
eventually
Potrero road (although I dont recall the road being labeled that locally).
About 25 miles and pretty hilly at the end. But all paved.
