Tweets,
I was taking a walk over at Bitter Lake in North Seattle (across the street
from where I live) and there were several swallows out including a BARN
SWALLOW. Suddenly I looked up at the swallows high above and noticed a large
all darkish swallow. I was finally able to identify it as a male PURPLE
MARTIN. This is the earliest I have ever documented it in WA. The previous
was April 22nd at Seabeck, Kitsap Co. WA. This makes this a full 13 days
prior to that!

To identify a species should not be enough to quench one's thirst,
a proper thirst must seek to understand every facet of the bird's
existence.
