I too saw my first goldfinches of the year on Saturday. Two males at
my thistle feeder. My copy of "Birding in Seattle and King County"*
shows them in the area all year, although more abundant beginning in
May. So where are they during the winter months?

(*OK, I'm in Pierce County, but really just a stone's throw over the line.)

Just looked out the window and saw 3 male Goldfinches at one of my
feeders. This is my first sighting of the year.
Also, thanks to those folks who responded to my earlier inquiry on
whether the cranes were still in Othello.
