Hi,

I had a wonderful morning at Shoreview park. This
morning's highlights included two singing CHIPPING
SPARROWSjust north of the tennis courts. I got to
listen to them for two hours while I played tennis
before I had a chance to go over and watch them.

A TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRE was in the area just west of
the soccer field and ballfield (also there on
Saturday). I believe this is a different individual
from the one seen along the creek and by the tennis
courts a week ago because this one had all of its
flight feathers still intact and the other didn't.

I Also saw a very large immature plumage accipiter
soaring on thermals. I can't say whether it was a
large female COOPER'S HAWK or possibly a GOSHAWK, but
I can say that it was about the same size as the
RED-TAILED HAWK which chased it off and then took over
the thermal. I did see a Cooper's Hawk chase a sharpy
off the same thermal later on.

Finally, a BALD EAGLE also found the thermals inviting
this morning, and a BARRED OWL became very vocal
around 1:00 P.M.
