Apparently, they winter in Port Angeles. My husband's family's feeders are
rife with beautiful goldfinches all year long. They have to fill their
thistle feeders--literally--once every two days, there are that many
congretating at their feeders(those lucky dogs; I have a thistle feeder
which only seems to attract a flock of pine siskins).

At any rate, I have been unable to attract any goldfinches to my yard, much
to my chagrin. I have no idea whatsoever why this might be. The habitat
around my house is perfect for them.

*shrug* Go figure.

I too saw my first goldfinches of the year on Saturday. Two males at
my thistle feeder. My copy of "Birding in Seattle and King County"*
shows them in the area all year, although more abundant beginning in
May. So where are they during the winter months?
