Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This
report was made Thursday April 13. If you have anything to add call Harry
Nehls at 233-3976.

On April 11 a GYRFALCON was in the Willamette Valley near the Tangent
Sewage Ponds. The YELLOW-BILLED LOON continues to be seen on Netarts Bay.
The EURASIAN GREEN-WINGED TEAL is still along Fenk Road west of
Tillamook, but the two EMPEROR GEESE appear to have left the area.

The spring migration is well underway now with large numbers of
YELLOW-RUMPED, ORANGE-CROWNED, and BLACK-THROATED GRAY WARBLERS being
seen. Smaller numbers of NASHVILLE WARBLERS and CASSIN'S VIREOS are being
reported. All the swallows are now back, including a BANK SWALLOW at
Newport, and PURPLE MARTINS at Coos Bay and Florence. SAVANNAH SPARROWS,
CHIPPING SPARROWS, and COWBIRDS are now in good numbers.

TUFTED PUFFINS are now back at Haystack Rock in Cannon Beach. Look for
them sitting in the grassy areas.

A BRANT was near of Vancouver Lake April 10. A GOSHAWK was at Washougal
April 9. A TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRE is still in that area. Another was at Mt.
Tabor park in Portland April 9. A WHITE-TAILED KITE and an early VAUX'S
SWIFT was at the Fernhill Wetlands in Forest Grove April 9. A flock of 8
WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS was west of Dallas April 8.

On April 10 a WILLET was at the Tangent Sewage Ponds. On April 12 a
WHIMBREL and 12 BLACK-NECKED STILTS were at Doerfles Pond, east of
Corvallis, and a LONG-BILLED CURLEW was seen north of Halsay.

A MOCKINGBIRD was north of Eugene April 12 at Hileman Lane County Park. A
CALLIOPE HUMMINGBIRD was on Skinners Butte in Eugene April 8. A large
warbler movement was there April 12. A BLUE-WINGED TEAL and YELLOW-HEADED
BLACKBIRDS are now at Fern Ridge Reservoir. A CASSIN'S FINCH was at a
Leaburg feeder April 11.

An ALLEN'S HUMMINGBIRD and a BULLOCK'S ORIOLE were reported in Grants
Pass April 9.

The TRICOLORED BLACKBIRDS are now back at the Marsh along the I-84
Freeway near Stanfield. A small flock was at Summer Lake April 9, but
apparently did not remain.

On April 8, 34 BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS, 24 GREATER YELLOWLEGS, and 4
MARBLED GODWITS were among the many shorebirds on the fields north of the
Lower Klamath NWR. Among the many white geese now in the Harney Basin are
several BLUE PHASED SNOW GEESE, and one BLUE ROSS'S GOOSE.

Thats it for this week.
