Over a period of 2 1/2 hours this morning along a 7 mile strip of the
Yakima River in Horn Rapids County Park I identified 36 species.
Sparrows were particularly abundant (seven species). It was some of the
most enjoyable birding I've had in quite a while.

Double-crested Cormorant 1
Great Blue Heron 1
Canada Goose 2
Wood Duck 4
Mallard 10
Northern Harrier 4
Red-tailed Hawk 1
American Kestrel 1
Chukar 4, many more heard.
Ring-necked Pheasant 2
California Quail 6
American Coot 3
Long-billed Curlew 2, many more heard.
Mourning Dove 6
Northern Flicker 1
Violet-green Swallow 5
Northern Rough-winged Swallow 2
Cliff Swallow 15
Barn Swallow 1
Black-billed Magpie 8
American Crow 1
Bewick's Wren 1
Ruby-crowned Kinglet 3
American Robin 12
European Starling 12
Yellow-rumped Warbler 7
Spotted Towhee 1
Brewer's Sparrow 1 - my biggest surprise of the morning.
Savannah Sparrow 9
Fox Sparrow 1
Song Sparrow 17
Lincoln's Sparrow 5
White-crowned Sparrow 140, many hundreds more only heard.
Red-winged Blackbird 55
Western Meadowlark 5
American Goldfinch 2
