Yesterday morning 9 sleepy but enthusiastic souls left Coeur d'Alene at 3am
to observe a SHARP-TAILED GROUSE lek on the Swanson Lakes Wildlife Area west
of Davenport, Lincoln County. The manager, Juli Anderson, showed us to the
lek and waited while we watched at least 11 grouse. It was a life bird for
each of us.

Ken Eppler and I birded the Wildlife Area after, as well as Davenport and
Reardon on the way home. After the grouse, our main bird of interest was a
SAGE THRASHER singing on territory along Telford Road in the Wildlife Area.
