7:00 pm ?THE BIRDS OF MIDWAY ATOLL;
Presented by Ivan Summers

"Imagine 3 small islands in the middle of the Pacific Ocean
with a total land area of less than 3 square
miles....inhabited by 2 million seabirds including 400,000
pairs of nesting Laysan Albatross, 40,000 pairs of
Black-footed Albatross and one rare Short-tailed
Albatross. Where Fairy Terns and Red-billed Tropicbirds
are courting and nesting. Sights of Bristle-thighed
Curlews....Then add to this Noddys, Petrels and Shearwaters
and you have the "birdiest" place I have ever been."

This is how our speaker Ivan Summers describes the Midway
Atoll!! Ivan is a retired Biology teacher who has traveled
extensively the least 13 years, with the last 7 years
devoted to bird and wildlife tours.
