An East Lake Washington Audubon (www.elwas.org) field trip to Spencer Island
on Saturday, April 22, had 6 of us mumbling about the rain, but when we saw
the 5 Yellow-headed Blackbirds we knew it was a great day. They were seen at
9:30 a.m. in the marsh at the end of the trail next to the barn. The last
bird we scoped was the American Bittern, also near the barn. The Merlin
tried for shorebirds and the Osprey tried for fish. The sharpie flew low
over our heads while we searched for rails.
