Hi tweets!

I am sorry I didn't get this out earlier but I have
been kind of busy with mid-terms and haven't had time
to get to my e-mail. Anyway, I went to Shoreview on
Friday. I didn't keep an official tally of the birds
seen (although I can go back to my checklist and
re-create it). I did see about 45-50 species though.
The highlights were:

A COMMON RAVEN flying overhead. I was a little
surprised at this. It is a new bird for my personal
list for the park but not for the overall park list.
Actually I also heard one last week, but I never saw
it. Interestingly enough, yesterday morning, I also
had a Raven fly over my house in Bothell. I was
alerted to its presence by its croak.

A VESPER SPARROW was in the area just west of the
soccer field. I checked again yesterday briefly on my
way somewhere after work and I couldn't re-locate it,
but this is a new bird for the park list.

I also had my first WILSON'S WARBLER of the season.
He was on the hillside above the tennis courts,
singing near the bench at the top.

PACIFIC-SLOPE FLYCATCHERS are also back int eh park.
I first heard them on Monday on my way to my tennis
class.

Later,

Michael Dossett
