Saturday morning I spent four hours driving around the Toppenish NWR, in a
30 mph wind which kept me in my car most of the time, the highlights among
54 species were:

57 Black-necked Stilts - the most I have ever seen in one trip
1 American Avocet
33 Greater Yellowlegs - also the most ever
1 Sora - very close and excited
2 Dusky Flycatchers - at refuge headquarters
3 Sage Sparrows - near Hwy 97 on the ridge overlooking the refuge
headquarters
