Hello Tweets:

It is that time of year again! IT IS TIME FOR SEATTLE AUDUBON'S
BIRDATHON 2000!!

What is Birdathon, you ask? The Audubon Birdathon is a spring-time
tradition. Between May 13th and May 31st, all across the nation
birdwatchers go out and count as many species of birds as possibe in one
day to raise money for their local Audubon chapter's programs that
protect the environment. Birdathoners get pledged donations for each
species they will see on their 24-hour adventure, OR a pledged sum. If
you want to participate in Seattle Audubon's Birdathon this year, I can
send you a pledge form. (The proceeds from Birdathon go to support SAS
educational programs, activities, and support our conservation efforts
at the state level.)

This year, Seattle Audubon is kicking off BIRDATHON with a "Birdbrain
Quiz Show" event at the Center for Urban Horticulture in Seattle on
Friday, May 12th, 7:30pm. The CUH is located at 3501 NE 41st St near
Husky Stadium. Teams of birders will compete for prizes to supplement
their Birdathon pledge goals. Admission is $5 in advance and $7 at the
door, and dessert refreshments donated by PCC markets will be served.
Everyone is welcome, and audience participation is encouraged! To buy
tickets, call the SAS office at (206) 523-4483.

PS - I am accepting pledges for my birdathon, too! My goal is to see
100 species and raise $500 for Seattle Audubon. Thanks for your
