Hello Tweeters:

Saw my first BAND-TAILED PIGEON just off of the La Push/Mora road on Monday.
Was on a side road and it flew from the grass along the edge of the road to
a tree, and the white crescent on the back of the neck was unmistakable.
While it sat in the tree the band on the tail was also clearly visible. It
was a beautiful bird.

While camped at Mora (across from La Push, near Rialto Beach) yesterday 2
men from the University of Washington were trapping and banding crows.
Believe that one gentleman was named Rick. They netted a few crows right
across from my camp site and their activity cleared the area of the resident
crows for yesterday afternoon. But this morning of couple of the locals
were back, sporting shiny new metal bands plus a couple of plastic ones too.
I go there from time to time so it will be interesting to see how long I see
the banded birds in that area.
