Is it possible that the storm that may have brought the Costa's
Hummingbird up this way, also may have brought up a BROAD-WINGED HAWK?

I am going to go out on a limb and say I think I saw a juvenile one
today when we were on the Barker Canyon road, which is about 8 miles
west northwest of Grand Coulee.

It circled a small group of trees and then made larger circles as if
hunting for a thermal at the same time heading north. It was very
compact in all dimensions. Short and thick wingspan and short tail
with narrow banding. The tail stayed flared the whole time I observed
the bird. The wing beat seemed to be faster then that of a Cooper's
Hawk. Hmmm.
