Stephanie Dosch and I spent the better part of the morning birding Whidbey
Island and then from about 12:30 to 2:00 birding the Skagit Game Range.
Whidbey was pretty slow for most of the morning, with the highlights being a
GREAT HORNED OWL at Fort Canby SP, and RUDDY TURNSTONES in with a flock of
BLACK TURSTONES at the penn cove pier. Also in Oak Harbor were some
SURFBIRDS in with both turnstones. Other than that, it was pretty dead
elsewhere.

Skagit Game Range was very good when we got there. a male YELLOW WARBLER was
singing his heart out at the entrance to the main dike trail. A small pond
within the dike also produced 2 LESSER YELLOWLEGS in with 5-6 GREATER
YELLOWLEGS, and also present was a single SOLITARY SANDPIPER.
