Greetings,
Just had to quickly share the amazing concentration of OSPREYS along the
Pend Oreille River in NE Washington. I was staying at Diamond Lake, just
out of Newport up north of Spokane for a week last week. One day I did a
photographic tour up the Pend Oreille River valley to the Salmo-Priest
Wilderness, etc... However, when I came back I took a side road between
Cusick and Usk, and you travel about 2 miles long the rivers edge all along
where the pilings are out there from when logs were tied to them in the
logging heyday earlier in the century. Well, the Ospreys use these for
nests, and in those two miles I counted a total of 21 ospreys and young! It
was fascinating...
Cheers,
