I recently was getting info on the CLSW to use for Bird-of-the-Month for the
ELWAS newsletter, Corvid Crier. The genus changed from "Hirundo" to
"Petrochelidon" about 1990-1991. I was surprised at the number of field
guides published since 1991 that still used Hirundo--

Stokes Field Guides - Western Edition 1996
Lives of NA Birds 1996
Audubon Field Guide to the Pacific NW 1998

The following had the genus correct --
Audubon Encyclopedia of NA Birds 1991
Nat'l Geog. Society 3rd Edition 1999

Everything published before 1991 that I reviewed had the genus as Hirundo
