Just awhile ago I heard the unmistakable buzz of hummingbird wings in the
house. Looked in all the skylights then noticed a poor little bird hanging
by his bill from the wooden molding at the base of the kitchen skylight.
Quickly released it but it was too weak to fly. It's bill was OK. I guess
because it was hanging straight down.
It tried a couple of times to fly ,going up the side of the house wall, but
it just sunk to the ground. I picked it up and held its beak into the
hummingbird feeder and it drank. Did this several times then let it rest in
a box a few minutes and it was ready to go. Amazing how fast the energy came
back once it had the syrup. Happy ending.
By the way we have had more hummingbirds around our neighbourhood this last
couple of weeks than anyone has ever noticed before. Not coming to the
feeders much though.
