I'm very interested in hearing from you out there regarding reports of
seeing Bald Eagles at high elevations - where, what was the bird(s) doing,
etc... Today I saw a beautiful Bald Eagle at the highest elevation I've ever
recorded. I was returning from hiking out to Nobel Knob (Norse Peak
Wilderness), and did a side scramble up Mutton Mountain. While having a last
snack on top before heading down, I spotted a beautiful mature Bald Eagle
riding circles up the western drafts, headed right toward me. About two
minutes later, it passed over my head not more than 100' up, and I could
even see it turning it's head down at me to check me out as it continued.
About a minute later it was well over 500' over me, and then suddenly began
a long glide NE, dropping elevation quickly and disappeared behind the
ridge. It was heading toward the direction of Echo and Lost Lake the last I
saw it.

I was at about 6200' as this magnificent bird visited me - awesome! My guess
it was close to 7000' when it lost interest in soaring and left the region.

Have others seen eagles in higher elevations often? Thanks.
