POSITION SUMMARY
> The Development Director is responsible for networking and prospecting

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Work with Executive Director and staff and board to prospect grant
opportunities, and write and coordinate grant proposals.

2. Track grant submittals and submit timely post-grant reporting.

3. Develop and maintain relationships with current and prospective
funders; promote HWI to appropriate audiences and communities.

4. Work with staff and board members to establish and implement an
annual development calendar and strategy that encompasses the following:
> * Corporation and foundation grants
> * Business sponsorship program
> * Individual donors
> * Special appeals
> * Special events

5. Work with Membership Coordinator to maintain donor database (used
for tracking all donations, members, corporations, foundations, and
prospects) and develop reports and tracking schedules to evaluate
response to member solicitations.

6. Work with Executive Director to develop charitable giving sources
including Combined Federal Campaign, Community
Shares, and the United Way.

7. Assist Executive Director with administrative duties as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS
> Must be detail-oriented, a team player, and out-going, with strong
> writing, planning, and multi-tasking skills. Common sense and
> courtesy a must. Previous employment, education, and/or volunteer
> experience that provides insights into the motives of corporate and
> foundation decision-makers and those of individual donors is very
> helpful. Prior development and/or sales experience highly useful.
> Good computer and fiscal skills required.

> Passion for HawkWatch's Mission HWI's mission is to protect hawks,

> education, and conservation. The Development Director must have or
> develop passion for and be able to articulate this mission in the
