the South Jetty of the Columbia River, Clatsop Co., OR

Tide:high and out going
Weather: Wind SW 5; Temp 68F

Method: 60 minute station count at 100m west of "3 rocks" on
SJCR using 20x60 Bushnell spotting scope and 8x50 Bushnell
binoculars. Birds were sorted as to flyby, sitting on beach, sitting
on ocean or sitting on river.

Notes: There were at least 11 HY COMMON MURRES on the ocean.
A TURKEY VULTURE is a count first. It appeared to be picking
apart a large sturgeon corpse with help from crows and WESTERN
GULLS. The surprise was the low SOOTY SHEARWATER numbers given
the numbers reported from Longbeach, WA yesterday.
