The last three days there has been a Western Grebe near the Time Oil fueling
pier near the Ballard Locks. A bit early maybe?

Also a Double Crested Cormorant has been in the same area on and off all
summer, always on the log boom on the south side of the fuel pier, the same
log every time.

The sight of the day was 16 Bonaparte's Gulls - in various molts - , one Mew
Gull, two crows and a juvenile Belted Kingfisher on the cable at the west
end of the spillway, all at the same time. They're so cute when they're all
lined up like that...California and Ring-billed Gulls are showing up too.
One adult GB Heron, a single Anna's Hummingbird plying the oaks near the
fuschia bed N of the admin building, a number of Bewick's Wrens here and
there, Robins, Barn Swallows and the usual suspects.

I'm still seeing three Belted Kingfishers, one adult male, one that looks
like an adult male, but has some brown in the gray band , and one with a lot
of brown on the sides and an incomplete brown band, I'm not familiar with
juvenile Kingfisher plumage to know who is who...

There are some nice big Chinook coming through the fish ladder, and a few
jacks. Quite a few Sockeye in Salmon Bay, but they seem to be staying put
for now.
