Subject: A request from a Local Birder for Local Info for an out-of-state birder

A gentleman from South Carolina (Mike Turner) has
been adding some Northwest birds to his list while he
is filling in on a short crew in Tukwila. So far he has
been pretty successful but could use a little help. We
took him over the mountains to the 'dry' side a week
ago and did pretty well but dipped on what I thought
would be some easy ones. Got Mountain Bluebird but
not Western on the way to Wenas. Missed Lewis's
Woodpecker at Robinson Canyon but got Blue Grouse
and two rattlesnakes. Almost no activity at Wenas
except for Clark's Nutcracker and an American Dipper
under the bridge. A weird but fun day capped off by us
seeing about a dozen Gray Jays at Chinook and Mike
seeing none! For someone used to the highest mountain
being just over 3000 fee, Rainier at Chinook is impressive.

Anyway, the birds he would like to add are (he is doing
the pelagic out of Westport on the 19th so shorebirds/pelagic/gulls
are omitted):

Western Bluebird
Pheasant
Ruffed Grouse
Varied Thrush
Gray Jay
Townsend's Warbler
Hermit Warbler
Western Tanager
Black-headed Grosbeak
Band-tailed pigeon
Pygmy Owl
Rufous Hummingbird
Anna's Hummingbird
Calliope Hummingbird
Yellow-headed Blackbird
Hutton's Vireo
Western Scrub Jay
Lazuli Bunting
Black Swift

I told him that our bluebirds had not been seen for more
than a month in Bonney Lake and 15 minutes after he
hung up two were sallying in the back yard but didn't stay.

So the request is that if anyone has reliable or reasonable
locale info for any of the above during this drier than normal
year (feeder birds are definitely OK!!!) and could let me
know I'll try to put together an itinerary to get him as many
as possible and help him get them and anyone who wants
to join us is welcome.
