Columbia Estuary Report - 8/15/2000

A RED-SHOULDERED HAWK flew over my house in Astoria this
afternoon.

About 5 SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS, 100 WESTERN SANDPIPERS and
2 LEAST SANDPIPERS were on the shorebird flats SJCR at
high tide today. A GREAT EGRET was in the pond near Battery
Russell on Friday.

A SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER was among 250 WESTERN SANDPIPERS
and 50 LEAST SANDPIPERS on Stanley Lake in Seaside on
Saturday. A probable DUSKY FLYCATCHER was at the Neawanna
Wetland as was a single very vocal WRENTIT (unusual because
it was in the wetland away from expected habitat).

Mike Patterson Alas, to wear the mantle of Galileo,
Astoria, OR it is not enough to be persecuted
celata at pacifier.com by an unkind establishment,
you must also be right.
