Hello tweeters. I just got back from birding the Republic area for 5 days.
Didn't see my target birds (boreal chick, 3 toed wood, black backed wood,
flam owl, or pine gros) but did see some other great birds. We birded and
stayed at SwanLake south of Republic about 7 miles and then up FSR. 53 about
7 miles. Also the Pend Oreille Refuge. Did see Northern Goshawk, Sora,
Vaux's swift, Common Nighthawk, Common Loon on their breeding grounds,
Lincoln's sparrow, Ruffed Grouse, and Dusky flycatcher not to let out a lot
of the other common birds of the area. Great place to bird but difficult to
bird all the time when you are camping with the non birding fam. who want to
fish all the time. That's great up there also. Thank You for everyone who
sent me info on the locations in N.E. WA. Will go back next year to try
again. Brad Wilson Puyallup WA. birding4brad at aol.com
