Yesterday, August 15, I was outside my house on the southeast margin of Olympia city limits, when I heard
Purple Martins calling. I finally made out the silouettes of at least 6 birds way up there. I don't think
I have ever heard (or seen) Purple Martins in my neighborhood during the 13 years I have lived here.
Clearly, post-breeding season movements are starting up.
