Larry:
Five of us spent the past 10 days in the Pacific Northwest. We visited Mount
Rainier, Westport, Ocean Shores, Dungeness, Hurricane Ridge, Victoria, and
Vancouver. Here are the highlights from our tour.

Yellow-billed Loon-1 imm near Damon Point, 20 Aug. We could see all 4 loon
species from this location.

Western Grebe-1. Same spot as above. Only one of the tour.

Great Egret-8 on the flats near Westport 19 Aug.

White-tailed Ptarmigan-1 at Second Burroughs, Sunrise, Mount Rainier on 17 Aug.

Pacific Golden-Plover-1 imm with 2 adult Americans at pond on Damon Point, 20
Aug.

Bar-tailed Godwit-1 at Tokeland Marina 17 Aug. That's a nasty speed trap on the
way into Tokeland. Seems like a money maker for the Indian reservation.

Wilson's Phalarope-1 at entrance to Reifel Sanctuary in BC.

You know about the Red-legged Kittiwake and othe birds of the 19 Aug Westport
pelagic trip.

Horned Puffin-1 adult at Dungeness Spit on 21 Aug. It was swimming with a Common
Murre.

Sky Lark-12+ in the tulip fields across from the Quality Inn in Saanichton.
Permission is required to enter. Barbara Begg helped us to see them. Also two
near the cemetary at the Vicoria Airport on 23 Aug.

Crested Myna-1 in Vancouver at First and Wylie 24 Aug. We found it in 15 seconds.

We totaled 184 species for the 10-day tour. Thanks to all of the friendly folks
that assisted us.

Sincerely,
BOB
