Hello Tweeters. Yesterday my dad said that he saw a large darkish swift
flying over our yard. I was excited about the possibility of BLACK SWIFTS in
our yard. So I spent most of the evening outside waiting to see this swift.
Finally, I saw it! A BLACK SWIFT! Black Swift was becoming my nemesis bird,
and I was happy to finally see one. It was usually flying with Vaux's Swifts
and/or swallows. It looked giant compared to them. Later I saw 3 BLACK SWIFTS
flying right above me! I could see their small, forked tail, and very long
wings that appeared to be twice the size of their body. Their wingbeats were
very long and slow and they soar much more often than Vaux's Swifts, which
are common over my yard. Besides the swifts today I heard a migrant WESTERN
TANAGER and a Downy Woodpecker, unusual in my yard. I've also been hearing
COMMON RAVENS. Last night I went outside and heard many migrating SWAINSON'S
THRUSHES and some unidentified migrants that sounded like Dark-eyed Juncos.
Lately we've also seen singing Bewick's Wrens, a first for our yard. Good
